About The Good Horse:

I started writing grants in 2015, helping a local non-profit bring Shakespeare in the Parks to our small town. Sitting in the audience that summer, I was hooked. Since then I have worked in non-profit leadership as an executive director, and served as a grant writer for small and large organizations, including managing the grants office at North Idaho College.

In 2017 I opened a small equine-assisted learning program in Sandpoint, ID, mainly serving children with autism, but also neurotypical people looking to grow emotionally.

I brought these vocations together in the summer of 2021 to open Good Horse Grants. I am honored to continue serving nonprofits with insight, integrity, and forward momentum - like the "good horse" that is my business' namesake.

Currently the only Grants Professional - Certified (GPC) in Idaho, I take joy in bringing the latest grants and non-profit best practices to nonprofits across the Northwest, allowing them to leverage their own excellence. I am proud to have a grant success rate around 70%, in a sector where a 10-30% success rate is standard.

About Claire:

I hold a BA from Humboldt State Cal Poly in community development, and have lived in North Idaho since 2010. Prior to entering the non-profit field, I worked in at-risk youth programs, specializing in outdoor programming.

Spending time outdoors is still a huge passion, as are horses, archeology, weaving, reading, and messing around in the garden with my 2 daughters. My husband Matt works in the non-profit world as well as the Kanisku Folk School coordinator. It has been a joy to support one another as we help build up our community.
